ORIGIN has a full range of insect light traps designed for use in various situations and locations. All of our light traps are certified to international safety standards and are manufactured to the highest quality.

For many years we have pioneered and championed the use of glueboard based insect light traps. The advantages of this system over more conventional "electrocutor" based models are enormous.

Our first and foremost concern is the health and safety of our customers. Simply put, glueboard based insect light traps are more hygienic than “electrocutor” based models. The reason for this is that glueboard based models retain the flying insect in-tact, unlike some electrocutor models that ‘zap' the insect. The high voltage grid used by many of these lights actually causes the insect to explode, showering fragments over a wide area. This results in the spread of bacteria and pathogens and potential contamination of food stuffs. A study was conducted with the National University of Singapore (NUS) on the exploding effect of the “electrocutors”.

A second major benefit of glueboard based models is that because the flying insects are caught intact, we are able to identify and audit the pest population at your premises. Monthly Bio-Audit reports are supplied to our customers, identifying pest level at their premises. This is an important part of a good Integrated Pest Management program. The focus of IPM is on monitoring efforts and the reduction of unnecessary chemical usage, which is also very much in line with our Environmental Commitment.

Safety plays a huge part in our service provision, and all of our Insect light traps installed in food preparation or other sensitive areas make use of high tech, shatter proof light tubes. This innovation ensures that in the event of an accident, there will be no potential contamination from glass fragments.

At ORIGIN we also make use of technology to ensure that your insect light traps are working as they should. The Ultra Violet output of UV tubes, which is the source of attractant to flying insects, diminishes over time, despite the fact that the light emitted can look as bright as the day they were installed. In normal usage, these tubes should be changed on an annual basis, and at ORIGIN we use UV meters to test the output of our lights to ensure that they are operating at the correct level, and providing protection to our clients.
