Clarification on Straits Times article, 22nd October, “Six big pest firms fined for anti-competitive collusion”
22/10/2007
We refer to the article in The Straits Times on 22 October 2007, titled “Six big pest firms fined for anti-competitive collusion”. ORIGIN would like to reassure our customers and stakeholders that we are not one of the six pest control firms being investigated by the Competition Commission for alleged price fixing. In our business dealings, ORIGIN has always subscribed to the principles of openness, fairness and honesty, with a focus on serving our customers to solve their pest and environment management problems. We do this in a number of ways:
-
Understanding our customers' challenges and advising them on the best solutions available with the most beneficial impact
-
Educating customers and the public at large that pest control is more than just about the “cheapest solution” and highlighting and researching new and innovative solutions available to combat pest control problems, for example, in the use of environmentally-friendly chemicals
-
We do not work with third parties on delivery of pest control solutions, and manage all projects end to end
-
Subscribing to full openness and transparency in all our business dealings. For example, in 2007, ORIGIN awarded the prestigious Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) Singapore Environmental and Social Reporting Award (SESRA). ORIGIN is the first SME to have won the Award, which recognizes organisations which disclose and report environmental information.
