ORIGIN proudly introduces Sparky, Asia’s ONLY bed bug detection dog. Bed bugs have a distinctive scent, which Sparky has been trained to hone in upon. Catching bed bug infestations at an early stage helps to increase the success rate of eradicating them completely from a location as late stage infestations have high populations of the pests, which results in the bugs hiding in cracks and crevices that cannot be efficiently treated. Once Sparky has pinpointed the hiding location of bed bugs within a room, ORIGIN can then follow up with a treatment that targets these areas specifically on top of the blanket treatment that covers the whole premises.
(1) ACCURACY
He can detect bedbugs with greater accuracy and speed than human inspection methods. In addition, human inspection is intrusive and time-consuming as it is dependent on visual clues. Canine detection dogs are able to detect bed bugs with 98% accuracy (a human can only inspect with 17-30% accuracy at best). Sparky will walk through your property and pick up the scent of bed bugs or viable eggs. He will hone in on the area of infestation and give his handler a positive signal that he has detected bed bugs by sitting down at the point of activity.

(2) PROFESSIONALLY TRAINED
Sparky was trained in the same way as Police and Customs dogs except that he was taught to detect the scent of bed bugs. He underwent months of training in Australia before joining ORIGIN Exterminators’ Bed Bug Team in October 2010. This thorough training means he is incapable of misleading you. Bed bugs can hide and lay their eggs anywhere, not only on mattresses and bed frames, but in the narrowest crack or crevice. Sparky has been trained to sniff out bed bugs, even for small infestations where visual inspections may not be able to locate the bed bugs.

(3) DISCREET
Once Sparky detects the bed bugs, ORIGIN Exterminators can carry out a suitable and targeted treatment. Bed bugs are never welcome guests. Due to the social stigma, many people are suffering in silence as bed bugs are presumed to be the result of poor hygiene. However, these pests are introduced to your home or hotel by bringing in any item that has bed bugs or its eggs attached to it.
