Termite Baiting: The Friendly Way To Get Rid Of The Enemies
A house is not easy to build. Aside from the amount of money needed to buy supplies and construction materials and the payment for the workers, one also invests in a great deal of dedication. The house, after all, is more than just a place or shelter. It is security, warmth, and a little bit of a dream. It holds everything from the past, the present, and the future; the memories etched on the walls, your identity, and the vision of the years to come.
The house is product of all effort and resources, but it is constantly against the threat of termites. It is said, there are 2 types of houses: ‘One that is infested with termites’, and ‘One that is potentially at threat of termite attack’. Termites are ant-like insects that live and feed on wood. If left untreated, they can build large colonies that can easily destroy the house.
How can we get rid of termites?
Termite baiting is one procedure that can be used to treat the pests. Basically, in ground stations are installed all over the house, in strategic locations where the termites would easily find them. Pieces of wood are placed inside the in-ground station, a palatable food substance for termites to feed on. If one termite finds it and ‘marks’ it as a food source, that termite would secrete pheromones so that other termites would be attracted and feed on the same wood as well. When this occurs, the wood is replaced with a termite bait which will gradually kill the termites. This is even more successful as the bait will be brought back to the colony.
Termite baiting is highly selective extermination method and targets only termites. This means that it cannot harm other beneficial organisms. The help of professional exterminators is advisable. This will guarantee that you achieve total colony elimination and ensure your home is a termite-free zone.
