Treatment
Various treatment methods for flies are available. This depends on a variety of factors ranging from location, sensitivity of areas, infestation levels, etc.
1) Baiting is a targeted treatment method that uses food bait mixed with a non-toxic chemical, which attract pests and works through ingestion. For flies, granular fly baits are placed in areas with high flying insect activity. Flies are affected when they consume the bait. These baits are safe for use within food facilities, dining, kitchens, etc. Baiting is more targeted and involves less chemical placements than residual spraying. It is a more environmentally friendly approach and better-targeted approach.
2) This is a treatment method for all flies. The treatment works as a residual contact insecticide and targets flies when they rest on the treated surface. This treatment is carried out at strategic locations externally to create a chemical layer that kills flying flies.
Insect Light Traps
ORIGIN recommends the use of the Chameleon Insect Light Trap (otherwise commonly known as a fly light or fly trap). This fly trap involves the use of a strong shatterproof Ultraviolet light bulb, along with a sticky glueboard. The light attracts flies, whilst the glueboard captures specimens whole. This is important as the flies trapped allows us to monitor the types of species, and the fly population in the vicinity.
In addition, the use of a glueboard is ideal for such traps placed in the vicinity of food production. This is because previous fly trap designs tend to use electricity to kill the flies, and the force of the electrocution project fly parts out from the trap, where they may land in food.
At dining areas, the Sundew Fly Lite Insect light trap can be used to monitor the population of flies in the area. The design of this light trap is very aesthetically pleasing, and you can rest assured that it will be able to blend into the elegant décor of your dining areas, without alerting customers to its function as a fly trap.
